WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -

A quiet Saturday of shopping in Wetumpka was shattered, along with a glass window pane, when a young deer crashed into the front of the Adullam House Thrift Store.

The incident was captured on video as the buck struggled to gain its footing on the tile floor. As it slid around, crashing into displays and shelves, store employees tried to figure out what to do.

"We've got to do something before he tears the whole store up," one person can be heard saying.

After a few minutes of uncontrolled thrashing, the deer was finally subdued by several people who immediately checked to see why it was bleeding. The worry that it may have been shot was dismissed when they determined it had busted its lip breaking through the window.

The deer was finally released back out into the wild.

Philip Powell with Adullam House called the event "shocking".

The thrift store supports the ministry of Adullam House in its mission to serve as a safe haven for children of incarcerated parents.
