BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Crime Stoppers says tips are coming in after authorities upped a reward to $4,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the murder of a 79-year-old man whose body was found in the Francis Marion National Forest last June.

According to a release, anonymous donors who knew the victim, Artie Bradley, have donated $3,000 to go along with the $1,000 reward offered by Crime Stoppers. Bradley's former landlord says the additional money came from close friends.

Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office say Bradley's body was found on a dirt road two miles from his home on Sunday, June 2. His body was discovered by a couple who were traveling along a road in the Francis Marion Forest.

Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury says foul play was involved in Bradley's death.

Bradley lived in Hood's Trailer Park off Highway 17A in the Moncks Corner, Bonneau area, officials say.

Ellen Wright, who is Artie's sister, says some of her family members had to identify his remains because his body was so badly decomposed. According to his sister, a birth mark on his stomach and his belt buckle were they two items deputies used to make a positive ID.

"I just couldn't believe my brother had been killed," said Wright. "I could not believe it."

Bradley's sister believes the person(s) who killed him are friends and had a motive: money.

"Everybody knows he carried money," said Wright. "He just pulled it out in front of him and would loan money for interest."

Wright says her brother had thousands of dollars on him at a time and even more money saved away.

"Whoever killed my brother knew all about his other money too and got to it," she said. "I'm afraid when we find out it's going to be someone that we know."

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the sheriff's office at 843-719-4412 or 843-723-3800 ext. 4412 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
