Natural gas odor in Mill Spring, not a danger to residents

MILL SPRING, NC (FOX Carolina) -

Polk County Emergency Management said a broken odor line does not pose any danger to the community of Mill Spring, but there may be a smell in the air.

Polk County Emergency Management Director Bobby Arledge said there is a broken odor line near the pumping station on Silver Creek Road, but no gas is leaking.

Residents were reporting the smell of natural gas Wednesday night.

Williams Pipeline officials advised that they would be unable to fix the line until Thursday.

Officials said residents will be able to smell the odor until the problem is fixed.

Arledge asked people in the community not to call 911 unless they can smell the odor inside their residence.
