Students train with soldiers on Ft. Benning obstacle course

FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

Middle school students in Columbus got the chance to train with soldiers Thursday.

The 3rd Armored Brigade combat team at Fort Benning hosted about 200 students from Blackmon Road Middle School today.

The kids were divided in groups and then navigated the air assault obstacle course on Fort Benning with the supervision of a safety coach.

Eric Grisby, the assistant principal of Blackmon Road, says this helps build trust.

Students at the school have been doing this obstacle course for the last few years. School leaders say they hope the exercise builds bonds and teach teamwork to the students.
