PR Rep: Vanilla Ice coming to Hopewell

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

The 90s hip-hop song, Ice Ice Baby, will soon fill the halls of Hopewell's newly renovated Beacon Theater, when artist Vanilla Ice performs at the newly restored venue in February.

A spokesperson for the Beacon's management company confirmed the upcoming performance late Thursday, which is scheduled for Feb. 21.

The Beacon will reopen Monday for its first performance in 33 years. The architectural gem will host musician and singer-songwriter Leon Russell Monday at 7:30 p.m.

In 1981, the Theatre was abandoned and left unused until 1999. Hopewell and a group of local citizens then began renovations and opened event space.

In 2011 the City of Hopewell took over the renovation and completed restorations in December 2013.

An official grand opening is planned for Feb. 20, along with a performance by Delbert McClinton.

Tickets for events through April can be purchased here:
