Warmer weather comes at a price

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

After the deep freeze from earlier this week, we will finally see some warmer temperatures in the forecast. However, we will be seeing some wet conditions as well.

We will see scattered showers move into our region this evening as lows drop into the mid-30s in the Upstate and lower 30s in Western North Carolina. With some locations dipping below freezing, we can see a few isolated spots of freezing rain.

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory for Yancey, Mitchell and McDowell counties, which will be in effect until 9 a.m. on Friday. Light ice accumulation is expected in those locations. It is advised that motorists take extreme caution on roads when traveling in the morning.

Friday will see temperatures, once again, peak in the upper 40s with scattered rain showers throughout the day. Winds will be gentle out of the Northeast in the Upstate and light to calm across the mountains.

Saturday will be even warmer, welcoming highs in the upper 50s while also seeing more widespread rain across the region. The sun will return on Sunday with warm temperatures, allowing us to end the weekend on a positive note.
