SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A study by the Georgia PIRG Education Fund found that Capital One was the most complained about credit card issuer by the amount of complaints filed.

GE Capital Retail was the most complained about credit card company among the top 10 card issues based on the number of complaints to card buying volume, according to the "Credit Cards, Consumer Complaints" study.

Between November 2011, when the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau started taking credit card complaints, and Sept. 10, 2013, there were more than 25,000 complaints recorded by the agency.

Ten U.S. credit card companies totaled 93 percent of all consumer complaints to the CFPB. Billing disputes are the most frequent type of complaint to the CFPB.

About three in 10 consumers who complained received a monetary compensation as a result. The median amount of monetary relief through mid-2013 was $128.

Georgia PIRG Education Fund released the report Tuesday morning. It's the fourth that analyzes complaints received by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's public Consumer Complaints Database.
