KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -

Utilities have been restored to residents in the Kilgore area after widespread outages Tuesday night.

The Kilgore Police Department said the cause was a blown transformer in town.

Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Southwestern Electric Power Company, or SWEPCO, reported that power had been restored to more than 2,300 customers in Gregg and Cherokee counties.

SWEPCO would not confirm that a blown transformer caused the outages.
