HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Bostwick Laboratories in Innsbrook will lay off about thirty people, come February 3rd. A total of 44 positions are getting slashed, according to a state website. The lab specializes in diagnosing cancer.

An employee at the Virginia-based lab says workers were given notice about two months ago. The layoffs are part of a closure at the facility. This comes after the company slashed another 34 positions, back in November. Bostwick also laid off nearly 100 people at its location in Florida back in 2012, according to online reports.

Bostwick released a statement, which in part says, "This reduction...was necessary in order to respond to the changing healthcare environment and decreasing federal reimbursements associated with the laboratory healthcare sector."

Bostwick maintains the company isn't planning any other cuts at this time.

The Bostwick layoffs follow a round of 200 job cuts at the Capital One offices in Innsbrook, back in October.
