GA House passes bill to move state primary elections

(WTVM) -

House members in the Georgia Assembly voted today, Jan. 17, on the resolution to move Georgia primary elections to May 20.

Senate passed the bill earlier this week, and today's House vote passed 159 to one.

The move has been expected after a federal judge's ruling last year moved up Georgia's Federal primary to allow for more time for military and overseas ballots in runoff situations. Any runoff would be scheduled for July 22.

The bill is now on the Governor's desk.
