WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Officers from the Wilmington Police Department are investigating an armed robbery in the 3100 block of Market Street.  That location is in front of the Dr. Stylz clothing store.

According to Lieutenant Blanton with the Wilmington Police Department, one person in a parked taxi cab was pistol whipped and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, told our reporter on scene that he was sitting in the cab counting his money. All of a sudden, a tall man approached the cab and pointed the gun to the back of his head and said "give me all your money."

After a long struggle, the suspect allegedly punched the victim in the face with the butt of his gun, stole hundreds of dollars in cash, and took off running.

Blanton said the suspect ran down Montgomery Ave.  He said police do not know if the suspect is still armed.

Police are looking for a thin male, approximately 25 years old and six feet tall with short, dirty blonde hair. The suspect is believed to be wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
