BAKER, LA (WAFB) -

Police have identified the man who died after getting shot in the chest Sunday evening.

The Baker Police Department said Kortlon Johnson, 19, of Baton Rouge, was shot three times. He was found dead behind a home on Daniels Street in Baker around 6:30 p.m.

Police Chief Mike Knaps said officers roped off a section of Daniels between Groom Road and Jefferson Street as detectives gathered evidence.

"Nobody's exempt," Knaps said. "We're very proud that we have a low crime rate, but everybody is susceptible and we just try to keep everybody educated and informed."

Investigators have not yet released any information about a suspect or possible motive.

"If anybody knows something, please just talk up, say something," said Monique Evans, a friend of the victim. "Anybody, come forward, say something. He didn't deserve this."

If you have any information on this incident, you are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 225-344-7867.
