COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The President of the Columbus NAACP chapter announced that he will be running for a seat on the school board.

Nate Sanderson will be running for the at-large seat being vacated by Cathy Williams.

Sanderson announced his candidacy Thursday Jan. 23 at the new Citizens Service Center and says he thinks he would be a good fit on the board.

Sanderson has been president of the Columbus chaper of the NAACP since 2010, according to their website.

Sanderson is a retired military veteran and used to be a drill sergeant at Ft. Benning.
