COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Many organizations are using the MLK Holiday as a day of service.
The Rainbow Push Coalition handed out meals and gave clothes to dozens of homeless people and families in need. About 70 people lined the building before the doors opened at noon.
Organizations leaders tell News Leader 9 they were expecting more than 500 people to come through by the end of the day.
At least 15 to 20 coalition members were on hand today to help out with the event.
Rainbow Push has held this event for more than 30 years. With preparations for this year's event starting more than a month ago.
