SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Parts of Jack Wells Blvd. and Simonds Dr. in North Shreveport have been shut down by a hazardous material leak from a truck.

According to SFD Chief of Special Operations and Safety Scott Wolverton, the truck leaked 25 to 30 gallons of hydraulic fluid between the 200 block of Simonds and the 1100 block of Jack Wells Blvd.

The fire department was called in after the leak was discovered at 11:14 a.m., following reports of cars slipping on the roadway. It's not yet known what caused the leak, or even what truck it came from.

Wolverton says a sand truck has been called in to clean up the leak, and the roads will remain closed until that work is completed.
