Carr named preseason All-PBC

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference released the softball preseason All-Conference team on Tuesday. Kristen Carr was one of 12 players from seven different schools to be selected for honors by the conference's head coaches.

Carr received several honors in 2013. She was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team, All-PBC First Team, Daktronics All-Southeast Region Second Team and the NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team. Carr had a team-high 38 RBIs and was second on the CSU team for home runs with 12 and doubles with 10.

Additionally, Carr posted a record of 7-2 in 17 appearances from the pitcher's circle. She recorded an ERA of 2.15 and struck out 67 batters.

The Columbus State softball team, which has won two straight PBC Tournament championships and advanced to the NCAA Regionals each of the last two years, begins the 2014 season on Saturday, February 1. The Lady Cougars will host the PBC/Sunshine State Conference Challenge at South Commons Park in Columbus.
