Shaw High School SkillsUSA brings home 22 medals

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Shaw High School SkillsUSA students brought home 22 medals from the SkillsUSA Region Competition in LaGrange, Ga. on Friday, Jan. 17.

All students who placed first and second will advance to state competition in Atlanta in March.

The winners are:

1st place- Broadcast Video Production - Darcy Flowers, Jacobe Love, Darian English, Dwinneylyne Butanas

1st place- Digital Cinema - Demya Milligan, Adam Yelkovich

1st place- TV Production - Kalin Cook, Kayla Miller

1st place- Opening and Closing Ceremonies - Tamia McCoy, Amaya Graham, Erin Williams, Dayana Hess, Olivia Miller, Lauren Ford, Takira McCoy

1st place- Extemporaneous Speaking - Braya Flakes

1st place- Job Interview - Devrin Turner

1st place- Carpentry - Will Murphy

2nd place- Plumbing - Dalton Frullaney

2nd place- Cabinetmaking – Chandler Braski

2nd place- Masonry - Ryan Hughes

3rd place- T-Shirt Design -- Kaitlyn Blackwell

Jonathan Lyons, a Shaw High School student who competes with Jordan High School, placed 2nd in Digital Drafting.

Brooke Cornelius competed in Georgia Pin Design and Matthew Hardy competed in Electrical Construction Wiring.

The Shaw High School SkillsUSA advisors are Jessie Courvelle, Bruce Getz, Chris Huffman, Taylor Kinkade, and Richard Ogan.
