CSRA closings, cancellations, delays due to winter weather

A winter storm warning has been issued for the CSRA for Tuesday into Wednesday. Here is a list of cancellations, delays, and closings due to the weather.

SCHOOLS

  • Richmond County schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday due to expected inclement weather, school officials said. School system employees should not report to work. Schools will resume normal schedules Friday.
  • Columbia County schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Employees, including 12-month personnel, should not report to work Thursday. School will be on normal schedules Friday.  
  • Burke County Public School System schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. They will operate on a normal schedule Friday
  • Emanuel County schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Schools will follow normal schedules Friday
  • Aiken County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday. Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday for students and employees. All morning pre-K classes are canceled.
  • Edgefield County School District schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Barnwell District 19 will be closed Wednesday. Schools will operate on a normal schedule Friday.
  • Williston School District 19 will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Schools will operate on a normal schedule Friday.
  • Barnwell District 45 schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Schools will operate on a normal schedule Friday.
  • Jenkins County schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Schools will operate on a normal schedule Friday.
  • McDuffie County Schools will be on a two-hour delay Thursday. All buses will pick up on a two-hour delay. Schools will dismiss at the normal times. Faculty and staff should report to their work stations two hours later than normal. Schools will operate on a normal schedule Friday.
  • Jefferson County Schools will be closed Thursday.
  • Washington County schools will be closed Thursday for students and staff. Schools will operate on a normal schedule Friday.
  • Screven County schools will be closed Wednesday and will open at the regular times Thursday.
  • Heritage Academy of Augusta will be closed Wednesday. 
  • Fox Creek High School will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. School will operate on a normal schedule Friday.
  • C.H. Terrell Academy will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Augusta Prep will be closed Wednesday and will be on a two-hour delay Thursday.
  • Winfield Heights Christian School will be closed Wednesday.
  • Westminster Schools of Augusta will be closed Wednesday and will have a delayed start on Thursday. School will begin at 10:00 am. After-school care at the Lower School will still be available during normal hours. 
  • St. Mary on the Hill Catholic School will be closed Wednesday.
  • Immaculate Conception Catholic School will be closed Wednesday and will open at 10 a.m. Thursday.
  • Aiken Performing Arts School & Lloyd Kennedy Charter School will be closed Wednesday and will be on a two-hour delay Thursday.
  • Faith Academy in Aiken will be closed Wednesday and open for normal hours Thursday.
  • Childcare Network Schools in Augusta and North Augusta will be closed Wednesday. They will be open for regular business hours Thursday. 
  • Faith Christian Academy in Waynesboro will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. The school will be on a normal schedule Friday. The field trip for 5th/7th grade to Milledgeville will be rescheduled.

COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES
  • Augusta Technical College will be closed Wednesday. There will be no day or evening classes for those two days. The college plans to resume normal business hours on Thursday. (Evening classes will be held Monday night.)
  • Georgia Regents University will be closed Wednesday. The university will open on its regular schedule Thursday. Classes and student activities will resume, and all university and health system faculty and staff should report at their regularly-scheduled times.
  • Aiken Technical College will be closed on Wednesday and will resume normally-scheduled operations and classes on Thursday morning.
  • Classes at USC Aiken are canceled Wednesday. Classes will resume at 10:50 a.m. Thursday. All university offices and facilities will open and resume operations at 10 a.m. Thursday.
  • Paine College will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. The college will re-open and resume normal business hours Friday
  • Training for Life Center (TLF) will be closed Wednesday. Classes will resume at 9 a.m. Thursday.
  • Oconee Fall Line Technical College (all campus locations) will be closed on Thursday.

FORT GORDON
  • Fort Gordon operations for Wednesday are curtailed. Emergency personnel are asked to check with their supervisors. Fort Gordon Gates 2 and 3 will remain closed Wednesday. Normal operations will resume Thursday.
  • At Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, all scheduled appointments are canceled and all clinics are closed until 10 a.m. on Thursday. As always, DDEAMC will maintain its essential emergency services, inpatient care, scheduled surgeries and high risk OB care during this time. Non-essential employees will report to work on Thursday at 10 a.m., unless otherwise notified.

HOSPITALS
  • Several departments at Aiken Regional Medical Centers will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. The ARMC Emergency Department will remain open 24/7. Ambulance services will not be affected by the inclement weather.
  • Georgia Regents Medical Center, Children's Hospital of Georgia and GRHealth Ambulatory Care clinics are operating as normal.

 

GOVERNMENT
  • The Richmond County Health Department will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
  • The Burke County variance hearing and planning commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 4.
  • Municipal Court for the City of Aiken has been canceled for Tuesday at the direction of The Chief Justice for South Carolina. Those cases will be rescheduled for a later date.
  • Hephzibah Municipal Court is canceled for Wednesday. All cases will be moved to the February Calendar being held at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 26. If additional information is needed call 706-592-4423.
  • North Augusta Municipal Court is canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Rescheduled dates will be mailed. 
  • Grovetown Municipal Court is canceled for Tuesday. All parties will be notified by mail of your new court date.
  • All Augusta-Richmond County offices will operate on normal business hours Thursday, opening at 8:30 a.m. Trasit services will opertae on a normal schedule. The Augusta Wellness Center will open at 8:30 a.m. 
  • All Jefferson County non-essential offices will be closed and personnel will NOT report to duty on Wednesday. Jefferson County essential and non-essential offices and personnel will resume normal work schedule beginning Thursday morning.
  • Jefferson County Public Health Department will open at 10 a.m. Thursday (delayed schedule). 
  • Jefferson County Department of Family and Children Service will be closed Thursday. 
  • Columbia County government offices will be closed Wednesday and will resume normal business hours Thursday.
  • Offices at the City of Aiken are closed Wednesday. Emergency personnel scheduled to work should report to their supervisors. The city will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday. 

BUSINESSES
  • Shaw Industries in Aiken will shut down early Tuesday. B shift associates should not report to work on Tuesday night.  1st shift and C shift associates should plan on reporting to work at noon Wednesday unless otherwise notified.
  • Serenity Behavioral Health Systems will close all locations beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday. There will also be a two-hour delay Wednesday. SBHS employees, please check with your supervisor should you have any questions regarding your work schedule.
  • Golden Harvest Food Bank will be closed all day Wednesday and re-open at noon Thursday.
  • Augusta GYN, P.C. will be closed Wednesday.
  • All non-essential personnel at Savannah River Site are being dismissed from work Tuesday beginning at noon. To ease traffic flow, area-by-area announcements will be made by site control rooms. All areas should be dismissed by 12:45 p.m. The site will be closed Wednesday to non-essential personnel. A delay in reporting time for Thursday, Jan. 30, is expected. All personnel should monitor 725-SITE, or check srs.gov, for updated information.
  • All Fifth Third Bank locations in Augusta will close at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
  • All Georgia Bank & Trust and Southern Bank & Trust will be closed Wednesday and re-open at 10 a.m. Thursday. 
  • Shepeard Community Blood Center is closing all  three centers at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The centers will re-open at noon Wednesday and resume regular operating hours.
  • Navy Federal Credit Union is closing at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. 
  • Newman Technology South Carolina is canceling 2nd shift and will be on a two-hour delay Wednesday.
  • ASCO Valve is cancelling 2nd & 3rd shift Tuesday. A decision about Wednesday has no been made yet.
  • Aidmore Animal Clinic will be closed Wednesday and will re-open at noon Thursday.
  • Advanced Manufacturing Skills Training Program in Allendale will be closed Wednesday and will re-open at 9 a.m. Thursday.
  • All Security Federal Bank branches are tentatively scheduled to open at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
  • Charter Communications stores, offices and service centers have resumed normal operating hours. 
  • The Augusta Mall will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The mall will resume normal business hours on Thursday, unless otherwise notified. The following anchor stores will close early Wednesday: Sears at 3 p.m., JC Penney at 3 p.m., Macy's at 6 p.m.

CHURCHES
  • The Hill Baptist Church will have no Wednesday activities.
  • Fleming Baptist Church will not have activities or services Wednesday. Offices also will be closed Wednesday.
  • The Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church office will be closed Wednesday, and all activities for Wednesday have been canceled.
  • Belvedere First Baptist Church is closed Wednesday, and all Wednesday activities are canceled. 
  • New Life Church on Bobby Jones Expressway has canceled all services for Wednesday evening. 

EVENTS
  • Dr. Ricardo Azziz's State of the Georgia Regents University and Health System Enterprise address scheduled for noon Tuesday has been canceled.
  • The Pride & Progress meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. at the University Hospital Clinic is South Augusta has been canceled.
  • The State of Tourism Luncheon planned for Wednesday and hosted by the Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Augusta Sports Council has been postponed until noon Feb. 12. 
  • The Columbia County Chamber's 9th Annual Banquet has been postponed until Feb 4. 
  • Columbia County Choral Society is canceling the rehearsal scheduled for Tuesday evening.
  • DHEC's community meeting scheduled for Tuesday at Aiken Technical College to discuss the future of Langley Pond in Aiken County has been postponed due to the threat of extreme weather. At this time, a new date for this meeting has not been scheduled.
  • Cedar Creek West who shares the building with the Aiken Family Y in Graniteville, will not have Financial Peace University Tuesday evening. If Aiken County schools are not in session on Wednesday, they will not have FPU at CCW on that night either.
  • The FPU class scheduled for Wednesday at the Cedar Creek Church Banks Mill Campus has been rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
