PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Some Arizonans are weighing in on their opinions of a controversial political issue in the state.

Sixty-nine percent of poll respondents are in support of Gov. Jan Brewer's plan to overhaul Child Protective Services (CPS), according to a poll by the bipartisan PR firm Scutari & Cieslak Public Relations. Twelve percent said they oppose it and 19 percent said they were not sure.

The PR firm said it surveyed 636 likely general election voters on Jan. 22.

Earlier this month, during her State of the State address, Brewer announced she had signed an executive order to overhaul CPS. The order removed CPS from the Department of Economic Security (DES) and replaced it with a stand-alone cabinet agency to oversee child welfare. The agency reports directly to the governor.

The move came after revelations in November that CPS failed to investigate thousands of reports of abuse and neglect.

When it comes to legalizing recreational marijuana, 51 percent of the people polled said they would oppose it, 43 percent were in favor of legalizing pot and 6 percent were undecided, according to Scutari & Cieslak.

Marijuana is currently only legal in the state for medical use.

The firm said it has a margin of error of 3.9 percent.
