AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

The 20-year-old Auburn University student found dead in his apartment Thursday afternoon has been identified as Matthew Tucker Cole of Avondale Estates, Ga.

Cole was a sophomore majoring in Geology.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. Thursday Jan. 30, Auburn Police received a call to an unresponsive male at an apartment complex on Hemlock Drive.

Upon arrival they discovered Cole dead in his apartment. He was found by his roommates.

Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced him dead at the scene. He has no known medical problems and no foul play is suspected.

His body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences medical examiner's office in Montgomery for a postmortem examination.

The death investigation remains ongoing by Auburn Police, the Lee County Coroner's Office and the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences.

No new details are available at this time, and the death investigation is ongoing.
