Spotsylvania suspect to plead insanity in Stafford deputy shootings

Posted: Updated:
SPOTSYLVANIA, VA (WWBT) -

The suspect in a 14-hour Spotsylvania standoff that ended with two Stafford deputies still recovering from a shooting will plead insanity.

The Free Lance Star reports that lawyers for Michael Antosh will argue the insanity defense when he goes on trial in May.

Antosh faces several counts of attempted capital murder. The retired Navy and commercial pilot reportedly shot one deputy in the neck, and the other in the leg and chest.

Investigators tell the paper that the officer shot in chest would have died, if it were not for the bullet proof vest.
