Columbus police search for hit-and-run driver

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police need your help finding a hit-and-run driver who they say crashed into cars at two different locations Friday afternoon.

According to authorities, the driver crashed into the back of these vehicles near the second avenue exit of J.R. Allen Parkway.

Moments after leaving the scene of that crash, witnesses say the driver got into another accident near the corner of 2nd Avenue and 20th Street while driving in the wrong direction.

"I was stopped at the stop sign right here, I had my left signal on to make a left hand turn," said Kenneth and Eldrice Brown, victims of the hit and run. "And the car came on our left side and slammed into the side of us and then he was on his cell phone. I wanted to chase him, but I just stayed where I was at."

The vehicle is described as a black full size pickup truck with front end damage. It has a silver tool kit behind the cab and a disabled veteran license plate.

Anyone with information should contact Columbus police.
