AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

An Auburn man and woman both face numerous drug and gun charges after a traffic stop leads police to so much more.

News Leader 9's Elizabeth White has that story, with exclusive video from the scene of the arrest you'll only see on News Leader 9.

At about 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, police noticed a car driving along south Gay Street without a license plate.

The officer made the stop, and when he got to the window, the officer knew something literally didn't smell right.

Anthony Davis, 25, of Auburn sat on the side of Gay Street in handcuffs, while drug agents search his car. A routine traffic stop for a missing tag made by an alert officer led to police arresting Davis for numerous drug charges.

"Once he made the traffic stop, he noticed the odor of marijuana in the car," said Captain Lorenza Dorsey with the Auburn Police Department.

Davis and a female passenger, 24-year-old Sabretia Hunt of Auburn were taken out of the car. Police were given consent to search, and located cocaine, marijuana, a scale and a firearm. Those items are now safely seized and sealed, in a brown paper bag..

"The 25-year-old male faces charges for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute," said Capt. Dorsey.

Hunt was arrested on felony warrants for possession of marijuana first degree and carrying a pistol without a permit.

"This is just a situation where an officer was doing his job and got drugs and a gun off the streets of Auburn," said Capt. Dorsey.

Drug arrests like this often times begin with routine traffic stops and tips from the community. So if you see anything out of the ordinary, call police and let them check it out.
