SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 36-year-old Scottsdale man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a stabbing Monday night.

The unidentified victim and the suspect, 27-year-old Matthew Fogel, were in the victim's apartment near 68th Street and Osborn Avenue when they got into an argument that turned into a fight, according to a Scottsdale Police Department report.

Fogel allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife, stabbed the victim in the abdomen and ran from the apartment about 9:30 p.m., according to the report.

A knife believed to have been used in the attack was found at the apartment, the report said.

The victim was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn Hospital.

Fogel turned himself in to police about 10:45 p.m. and was taken into custody on Tuesday morning.

Police said they were withholding any further information, including the victim's identity, until the investigation is complete.

The report said Fogel could face one count of aggravated assault if the victim survives.
