Water heater fire re-ignites, displaces Phoenix families

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Two families were displaced after a water heater fire re-ignited at their Phoenix condominium complex Friday morning.

The fire in the area of 44th Street and Baseline Road was originally reported at 3:10 a.m. and caused little damage to the house, according to a Phoenix firefighter.

But firefighters had to return after the flames shot up again just before 8 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

A family with two adults and four children and another family of two adults and two children will be provided shelter, clothing and food as needed, said Trudy Thompson Rice of the American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter.

No other information was immediately available.

    Fire crews responded to a fire at a residence on Washington Avenue Wednesday morning.  According to Fire Chief Ricky Shores, four units burned, which displaced four families. The families were home at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.
