MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Public School System says donations are pouring into a fund that was set up to help the family of a student killed while on a field trip last week.

Alexander Bridgman, a junior at Robert E. Lee High School, was killed Tuesday in the Birmingham suburb of Pelham after being struck by a vehicle. Another student, unidentified, was also injured but is expected to recover.

Bridgman was a Life Scout in Troop 103 Boy Scouts of America and was working to earn the Eagle Scout Award.

Estimates as of 4:30 on Monday afternoon are that more than $7,000 has been donated to the fund account at ServisFirst Bank locations. More than $4,000 of that money was raised by Bridgman's classmates through a fundraiser they called "Loose Change", according to estimates from Lee H.S. principal Lorenza Pharrams.

Several churches, schools and community groups, as well as individuals, have contributed to the fund.

The donations are going to a special fund called "The Alexander Bridgman Fund" at two ServisFirst Bank branches in Montgomery. Anyone can donate.

Those who wishes to give to the cause can do so by donating at the branches located at 1 Commerce Street and 8117 Vaughn Road. The account number is 1210143549
