COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The fourth suspect in Columbus' first homicide of 2014 has turned himself in, and faced a judge, all within 24 hours.

In a bond hearing today, Feb. 7, 19-year-old Christopher Womack pleaded not guilty, but Columbus investigators say Womack admitted to shooting at the victim during the attempted robbery that resulted in murder.

Police say the victim, 39-year-old Troy Saunders, and his friend went to the Super 8 Motel on Warm Springs Rd. on Jan. 24 to meet a girl and smoke marijuana.

The girl they were meeting was reportedly 17-year-old Niesha Jones, who is also among the four suspects arrested and charged with Saunder's murder.

Sgt. Robert Taft testified that Jones was used to lure the victim to the motel. Jones sat inside a car with the victim. Meanwhile, the other three murder suspects sat in another car nearby—Womack, 19-year-old Trevon Brown, and Jones' boyfriend, 20-year-old Mayson Gibson.

Investigators say the men approached the victim and demanded money. Gunfire erupted when the victim tried to drive away.

Police say Jones was pulled from the victim's 2003 Buick right before the shots were fired.

Although investigators believe all three male suspects had guns, only one type of shell casing was found at the scene.

A weapon was later found at Gibson's home, but according to investigators, the gun did not match the caliber of the shell casings recovered.

A friend of Saunders was in the car with the victim during the shooting, and survived the attack. Police say he was unable to identify the shooters.

Womack is being held in the Muscogee County Jail without bond along with the three other suspects.

Fourth suspect arrested in Super 8 Motel murder case

The fourth suspect in Columbus' first homicide of 2014 has now been arrested after weeks on the run.

Christopher Womack, 19, is accused in the Jan. 24 murder of Troy Saunders at the Super 8 Motel on Warm Springs Rd.

Womack faces several charges including Murder, Aggravated Assault, Criminal Attempt-Armed Robbery, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Firearm or Knife During Commission of a Crime, and Possession, Manufacture, Distribution of Controlled Substance.

Three other people have been arrested and charged in the same case, including 19-year-old Trevon Brown, 17-year-old Niesha Jones, and 20-year-old Mayson Gibson.

Jones and Gibson waived their initial court appearance, and a bond hearing for Brown was postponed due to conflict of interest in legal representation.
