NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

An overturned tractor-trailer brought traffic to a crawl Friday evening on Interstate 24 south of Nashville.

The crash was reported about 7 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-24 just before Harding Place.

Police said a small car lost control and clipped the big-rig, which was hauling two trailers. The truck then lost control and overturned.

To make matters worse, one of the trailers was carrying acid, but police said none of it spilled.

The driver of the car was not injured, but the truck driver was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Officials have not released his condition, but said he is expected to be OK.

Traffic was backed up for several miles as crews carefully righted the truck and its cargo.
