TUSKEGEE, AL (WSFA) -

He's been the top law enforcement official in Macon County for two decades, but Sheriff David Warren says he'll soon hang up his badge and enter the next chapter of his life.

Sheriff Warren says he'll soon retire from the job he's held for 20 years. Combine it with the 20 years he spent at the Tuskegee Police Department and Warren has served his community for almost 40 years.

The sheriff, who is currently 66-years-old, says he wants to spend more time with his grandchildren.

His current term ends in January 2015.
