WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The Bradley Creek Bridge is back open following a serious accident that happened Wednesday morning, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

According to police, Jospeh Sheridan, of Wilmington, was driving a white Infinity and was headed southwest across the bridge towards Greenville Loop Road. Sheridan lost control of his vehicle on the icy road and slid into on-coming traffic. Sheridan hit a black BMW, who was headed towards Wrightsville Avenue.

Both drivers were transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center due to their injuries. Sheridan's injuries are unknown at this time.

Paul Mccombie, of Wilmington, was driving the black BMW. He is being treated for minor injuries.

Officials say charges are pending.

The accident has been cleared, but motorists are advised to avoid the bridge due to icy conditions. Use and alternate route, if possible.
