MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Humane Society and WSFA 12 News teamed up on Valentine's Day for the Puppy Love Adopt-A-Thon, and the public response was (and continues to be) phenomenal!

As the event ended Friday, 89 animals found new homes this Valentine's Day. But the adoptions didn't stop. People who saw the event, but couldn't make it out Friday, stormed the facility over the weekend and into the new week.

Now, as a direct result of the adopt-a-thon, the total number of animals who gained a forever home stands at 125.

Families came in and intially adopted 81 puppies, 4 adult dogs and 4 cats. One of those adopted was a older dog named "Prince William" who shelter staff were excited to finally find him a home.

There are 23 puppies up for adoption as of February 18.

The Montgomery Humane Society is located at 1150 John Overton Drive in Montgomery. For more information, call 334-409-0622.
