New signs on I-65 in Montgomery to show road alerts, travel times

Posted: Updated:

State transportation officials say a network of new message signs along Interstate 65 in the Montgomery area will allow drivers to get updated advisories on road conditions and other information.

This work is part of the $2.1 million ALDOT construction project to install dynamic message signs on the I-65 corridor in the Montgomery area. The estimated completion date of this project is April 30.

Weather permitting, there will be left lane closures on I-65 South at mile marker 174.5 on Monday beginning at 9 p.m. in preparation of installing the truss for the overhead sign bridge and the message sign at this location.

Beginning at 12 a.m., there will be rolling road blocks in both directions of I-65 to hang the truss and sign. Once work is completed at this location, the same work will occur on I-65 North at mile marker 169.1. All lanes will be reopened by 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
