COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Black History Observance Committee of Columbus held its annual Black History Breakfast on Monday morning.
The breakfast took place at the Columbus Trade Center, and Congressman Sanford Bishop hosted the event.
The event's guest speaker was The Root 100 co-host Jamal Simmons. Simmons was also a former CNN political analyst. He is considered by some to be one of the most influential African-American people in the United States.
Proceeds from the breakfast benefit several local charities including the House of Mercy.
