SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Two people were killed Monday night after a wreck on Highway 271 in Smith County.

Trooper Jean Dark, with the Texas Department of Public Safety, says the accident happened just after 6P.M. just south of Farm-to-Market Road 16.

There were two vehicles involved. One of them, according to witness photos from the scene, was a white truck. That truck caught fire after the collision.

The cause of the crash is still unclear, and the names of the two people who died have not been released. It's also unclear if they were each in the same car, or were in separate cars.
