COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus State University is turning its focus to the civil rights area this spring semester.

CSU's Department of History and Geography will screen the film Slavery by Another Name on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Columbus Public Library auditorium (3000 Macon Road).

The 2012 documentary focuses on forms of forced labor that kept thousands of African-Americans in bondage until World War II.

The film is part of Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle, a program made possible through a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities as part of its Bridging Cultures initiative, in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
