MARTINEZ, GA (WFXG) -

A Columbia County firefighter needs your help after his home was burglarized while he was working.

Jeff Prouty was working a 24 hour shift during last week's ice storm when the thieves struck.

Prouty's family said the burglars took off with expensive electronics and priceless family heirlooms.

His sister-in-law is speaking out about the crime.

"If someone is horrifically injured, he's the person who is there first," said Jocelyn Prouty. "He's going to be the one who is there to help you out. You know, it's rare, but he's the one who needs help right now. So if there's anything you can do, we owe it to him."

If you are interested in donating to help him out, the family has set up a gofundme account. Click here to donate.
