EUHARLEE, GA (WTVM) -

The family of a 17-year-old from Georgia shot and killed by a Euharlee police officer last Friday has hired an attorney.

Euharlee police say when one of their officers went to the Bartow County home, Christopher Roupe answered the door pointing a gun at their officer.

The family's attorney Cole Law says Christopher had a remote control in his hand, not a gun. He went on to say more evidence should have been collected at the scene.

"The eyewitnesses on the scene clearly state that he had a Wii controller in his hand," Law said. "He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest."

The officer is on administrative leave which is standard procedure. The GBI says the autopsy is complete and they will turn over evidence to the district attorney in a month.

The funeral for Christopher is planned for this Friday.
