Central, Eufaula, Lanett boys and Lanett girls advance

Four area teams advanced to AHSAA regional finals on Wednesday.

Central defeated Spain Park 53-39 in the semifinals of the Class 6A Central Regional at Alabama State University in Montgomery. Anthony Moore had 12 points, Tionne Williams 11, and Devin Pugh had 10 points and 14 rebounds. The Red Devils will play Carver-Montgomery on Friday at 11:40 am ET for the right to advance to Birmingham.

The Eufaula boys came up big in overtime to beat St. Paul's 62-54 at the 5A South Regional in Dothan. The Tigers will play Faith Academy for their trip to the Final 48. Faith eliminated Russell County, 71-51.

In Jacksonville, Both Lanett teams advanced to the Northeast Regional finals in Class 2A. The Lady Panthers defeated North Sand Mountain 58-52, while the second-ranked boys team overwhelmed Fyffe 82-44. Both teams play on Saturday morning at Jacksonville State, the girls versus Woodland at 10 am ET, the Panthers playing Westbrook Christian at 11:40 am. Westbrook earned its finals berth by eliminated LaFayette, 49-48.

Three area girls teams were eliminated. Opelika lost to Spain Park 43-37 in Class 6A. In 5A, B.C. Rain topped Eufaula 59-31 while Faith Academy beat Russell County, 52-32.
