Dukes named football coach at Smiths Station

SMITHS STATION, Ala. (WTVM) - Smiths Station High tabbed Jason Dukes as the new head football coach of the Panther program on Wednesday.Dukes has been head coach at Alpharetta for five seasons, posting a 34-21 record, including a 9-3 mark this past season.

The former Georgia Tech offensive linemen led the Raiders to the playoffs each of the past four seasons, winning two region championships and earning a trip to the second round of the GHSA Class AAAAAA playoffs in 2013.

His hiring is subject to final approval by the Lee County School Board. The board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday night. Dukes replaces Mark Rose, who left to take over as head coach at North Jackson.
