Severe storms exiting Atlanta this morning

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH east of metro Atlanta until 9am EST. 

SEVERE THREATS: Wind gusts to 60 mph, local heavy bursts of rain up to 1 inch and frequent lightning strikes.

TIMING: The main squall line has pushed through Atlanta. Most of the rain and storms will exit the CBS Atlanta viewing area before 10 a.m.

TEMPERATURES: A rapid temperature change will take place with this front. We will go from overnight temperatures in the low 60s and drop into the low 40s by sunrise Friday. You will definitely need the heavier coat ready for you and the kids by then.

WEEKEND OUTLOOK: Skies will clear on Friday afternoon and Saturday with only a small chance at a shower late Sunday. Otherwise, pleasant temperatures return to the region. Lows around 40 with highs around 60.
