TALLASSEE, AL (WSFA) -

Lake Thurlow's water-level will be brought back to its normal level.

The drawdown will end on Feb. 21, and the water level should be normal on Feb. 26. The reservoir, on Tallapoosa River, was lowered beginning Jan. 20, eventually dropping nearly ten feet from its normal elevation.

The drawdown was implemented to provide a window for shoreline construction, as well as aiming to control invasive vegetation by exposing plants to freezing temperatures. Similar drawdowns on the lake have not taken place since 2010 because of weather conditions and other issues.
