HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

If you need to stock up on severe weather supplies, now is the time to do it.

Starting at midnight on Friday, the state is waiving its sales tax for the Severe Weather Preparedness weekend.

Workers at Lowe's in Athens said  they are expecting a busy weekend. More than 200 cities and counties are waiving their local taxes for the weekend.

Assistant store manager Greg Strickland said there are many items that are purchased right away.

"Weather radios, batteries, water and coolers," he said. "We will sell generators to the ones that don't have them already."

The tax free weekend continues until Sunday. Click the links to check out what items are covered during the sales tax holiday - http://1.usa.gov/Ni5nZ9 and which cities are participating - http://1.usa.gov/Ni5Bzg
