COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus Police responding to a home burglary arrested four residents Thursday after they found drugs inside the home.

The four were arrested after police were called to a burglary in progress and on the 5500 block of Miller Rd. at around 4:30 a.m. Jermaine Cunningham, Michael Bates, Zachary Washington, and Elwira Strzelec were taken into custody. All four are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

According to police, two men covering their faces with bandanas broke into the home and were holding the four inside at gunpoint. An altercation took place and the residents took the suspect's gun. The suspects then escaped. A shot was fired but no one was injured.

During their investigation, police then found four pounds of marijuana with a street value of appoximately $18,000, $1,100 cash, and a stolen gun inside.

The burglars have not been found.
