CSX STATEMENT: On train fatality near Jesup

STATEMENT ISSUED FEB. 21:

CSX is deeply saddened by a tragedy that occurred late today on a CSX rail bridge in Doctortown, Ga. and is cooperating fully with authorities as they investigate.  Initial reports indicate that at least three people were injured, one fatally.  CSX personnel are working with first responders to meet the needs of those injured.  A train was en route from Memphis to Savannah when the incident occurred.

The details of this accident are still under investigation. CSX is working with local authorities to determine what happened.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
