COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police are searching for three suspects who allegedly robbed and shot a man in a mosque parking lot located on 6550 Forrest Road Tuesday evening.
The victim, 24-year-old Khalil Rabee, was shot in the parking lot of the Islamic Center of Columbus at 6:55 p.m.
A neighbor who lives across from the temple said he was shocked that a shooting happened in front of his house.
"I heard two gunshots. Then police cars came in, and I heard sirens," the neighbor said. "We have robberies, we have car chases in the neighborhood. But this is the first time that I have seen a shooting happen in my area of the neighborhood."
According to investigators, the three suspects fled the scene in a maroon newer model Honda Accord that has damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.
The suspects are described as black males of average height and weight. One wore a green long-sleeve shirt with black pants, a second wore a white shirt and jeans, and the third was wearing a red shirt and red pants.
The victim has non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released from the Midtown Medical Center the night of February 26, 2014.
