Three suspects wanted in connection to armed robbery outside mosque

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus Police are searching for three suspects who allegedly robbed and shot a man in a mosque parking lot located on 6550  Forrest Road Tuesday evening.

The victim, 24-year-old Khalil Rabee, was shot in the parking lot of the Islamic Center of Columbus at 6:55 p.m.

A neighbor who lives across from the temple said he was shocked that a shooting happened in front of his house.

"I heard two gunshots. Then police cars came in, and I heard sirens," the neighbor said. "We have robberies, we have car chases in the neighborhood. But this is the first time that I have seen a shooting happen in my area of the neighborhood."

According to investigators, the three suspects fled the scene in a maroon newer model Honda Accord that has damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

The suspects are described as black males of average height and weight. One wore a green long-sleeve shirt with black pants, a second wore a white shirt and jeans, and the third was wearing a red shirt and red pants.

The victim has non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released from the Midtown Medical Center the night of February 26, 2014.

If you have any information about this crime you are asked to call Columbus Police at 706-653-3400.
