Columbus police need your help locating a hit and run driver that struck a woman and left her for dead on the side of a road.

A casual walk down a Columbus street turned into a near-death experience for one Columbus resident.

"She was walking with the flow of traffic on the side of the road and she stated that she felt a sharp pain in her left shoulder and when she got up and looked up she saw a white van pull back onto the roadway and had black lettering across the side of it," said Corporal Deborah Whitley with the Columbus Police Department.

According to Cpl. Whitley, the female was walking east on Warm Springs Road approaching Calvin Drive when the incident happened at 11 p.m. on Feb. 11.

While there is no description of the suspect who was driving the white van, police did uncover something during their investigation.

A Ford right-hand side mirror was found at the crime scene and turned in for evidence. According to Cpl. Whitley, the missing mirror should make the van easier to identify.

"If anyone knows of a van, a white van, Ford that has black lettering on the side of it, missing a right mirror please contact police and help us solve this crime," Cpl. Whitley said.

A reward will be offered for information that leads to an arrest and your identity will remain anonymous.
