AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - East Alabama veterinarian groups pitched in to offer spay and neuter services at a discount as part of the 20th anniversary of World Spay Day.
News Leader 9's Elizabeth White shows all pet owners how they can have their animals fixed for less than $30, thanks to a local pet supply store that's paying half your bill!
Inside Four Paws Boutique, 2-year-old Trixie delights the customers as they walk in. It's hard to believe this sweet girl was just seconds away from being euthanized before she was rescued and put up for adoption.
"There are so many animals out there that need homes and there are not enough homes for them in Lee County alone about two-thirds of animals coming into the shelter are euthanized and that is just so sad to me, so we want to try and reduce the number of animals out there," said Kelly Tousignant with Four Paws Boutique.
The owners of Four Paws are passionate about reducing the number of thousands upon thousands of unwanted animals killed every year in shelters.
In honor of World Spay Day, 10 local vets provided low cost spay neuter services to the public and Four Paws will pay half of your bill from Feb. 20 to 28.
Total costs for owners should be around $30 or less. Considering these surgeries can cost anywhere from $100 to $300, it's a good deal.
"We just want to thank all of the local vets for participating they are taking a lot of time out of their busy schedules and greatly reducing their costs and we appreciate it," said Kelly.
As for Trixie she's still looking for a forever home. She's one of the fortunate animals rescued at the last second and ready to give years of love back to the family that loves her.
Four Paws Boutique is located on Pepperell Parkway next to Country's Bar-B-Que.
