BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Crews were sent out to restore power to nearly 2,000 people in the Baton Rouge area that lost electricity during the icy weather Tuesday.

The largest reported outage was located around LSU. Nearly all of the outages were caused by downed tree limbs.

Almost 1,500 customers from East Parker Boulevard to Lee Drive lost power around noon.

Officials said workers were able to get the power working again later in the afternoon.

Smaller outages impacted a few hundred customers in the Wooddale, South Foster and Claycut areas. The electricity was restored for them later in the afternoon as well.

Demco also reported a small number of outages. Fewer than 100 customers were impacted by those outages.
