TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Pest control is needed at some area restaurants after Lucas County health inspectors swept through the area.

Four violations were discovered at Mulvaney's Bunker Irish Pub and Grub on Dorr Street. Inspectors found gnats in the bar area and a spray bottle of Raid in the facility. Although it's not allowed, it has since been removed. The Lucas County Health Department says issues with pests need to be addressed by a professional pest control operator.

Spring cleaning may come early at the Dorr Street Café. Inspectors recommend general cleaning along the cook line and behind the bar. The visit led to 13 violations, including raw eggs being stored over kegs of beer, food unlabeled and inspectors called the beer and keg coolers dirty.

Five violations to report at Pho Vietnam on Upton Avenue. Inspectors noted unused and broken equipment, coolers and freezers in need of cleaning, along with fly strips in the kitchen and food prep area.

Nine violations tallied at China Star on Dorr Street. Inspectors say general cleaning is needed on, under, and behind all of the equipment. They also found mouse droppings on a dry storage unit.

To top off the week: 15 violations at Church's Chicken along Byrne Road. The roof is leaking in three separate areas of the building. Additionally, inspectors found to-go food containers being stored on the ground, as well as damaged flooring.

Each year, 1 in 6 Americans gets sick by consuming contaminated foods or beverages, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

But there are some restaurants coming in violation free. Malibu's Fun & Spirits on West Alexis Road, the University of Toledo Subway on West Bancroft Street, as well as the school's Pizza Hut, are all clean and ready to serve.
